The Immune System – Our bodies are a war zone on a microscopic level. We are always being attacked by germs that enter through our nose and mouth or openings on our skin, like scratches.
Luckily, we have an immune system to deal with it. If we had no immune system, you would die the first time you caught a common cold. Your body’s immune system is a complex system of different organs, glands, tissue, and reactions that protect your body from harm.
Each of these parts works separately and together to form the immune system that takes care of problems.
The back of your throat has two parts of the immune system: The tonsils and adenoids help by trapping germs coming in through the mouth and nose.
They are part of the more extensive lymphatic system. The lymph system is one of the most extensive parts of the immune system. This network of tiny tubes can be found throughout your body.
It manages fluid levels, reacts to bacteria, can deal with cancer cells, and even absorb some of the fats in our diet.
Bone marrow is the spongy tissue at the center of bones. Its job is to produce red and white blood cells and platelets. The white blood cells are frequently on the look-out for microbes, bacteria, fungi, and toxins. Platelets help the blood to clot, closing up a wound.
The thymus gland also makes T-cells, a specific type of white blood cell. In our younger years, the thymus is an active part of the immune system, but it disappears as we age. The spleen makes antibodies. They attack microbes, targeting, and destroying them.
The spleen filters the blood and gets rid of the microbes and other things the lymph system and the blood have eliminated.
All this happens while you’re going about your business. With all the things we do each day, we don’t even think about it. Our body does all these amazing things to protect itself, and all we have to do is eat right and get enough sleep and exercise.
But what happens when the system works too well or doesn’t work well enough? Interactivity is called immunodeficiency. It can be inherited or can happen because of medical treatments like corticosteroids or chemotherapy.
Overactive immune systems cause allergies and autoimmune diseases. Allergies are widespread but can be life-threatening.
Indeed, eating right, adequate sleep, and regular exercise can help keep your body healthy. But did you know a better sex life can lead to a more robust immune system?
Studies have also shown that a healthy sex life (one to two times a week) can strengthen your immune system. Frequent sex leads to higher immunoglobulin or IgA.
This is an important antibody that helps prevent illness and is the first defense against human papillomavirus, or HPV.
During the climax, your body releases a hormone called oxytocin and other endorphins, which can help you sleep better.
This also leads to a more robust immune system. Many benefits come from a healthy sex life: Fewer headaches, better sleep, improved life expectancy, even a decreased risk of prostate cancer for men.
The stresses of life are also lessened. All of these benefits help to strengthen your immune response.
